This introduction to pottery course will guide you through the fun and creativity of making your own ceramic masterpieces from clay. The course is lead by award-winning Frances Smith, who will show you how to make beautiful ceramics on a pottery wheel or by hand-building.

This course is five lessons and limited to six participants, so you will get individual tuition. You can join the course at any time there is a vacancy.

Over the five-week course, Frances will take you through the pottery process from forming a shape from wet clay, drying it and then turning the leather-hard clay ready for the first bisque kiln firing. Then she’ll guide you into how to decorate your piece with colourful glazes, and finally, Fran will load the kiln and fire your first works.

Your finished works can be collected in the week after the course concludes and when the kiln has cooled from a red-hot temperature of 1220 degrees centigrade and your work is complete. We’ll take a professional photo of your work for you to share with family and friends.
